WHAT WE DO:
Interested in raising a market steer, beef heifer, dairy cow, dairy heifer, or dairy beef for the Sac County Fair, or just want to learn more about show cattle, feel free to come to our meetings. Youth will identify breeds, locate parts, judge, halter break a calf, fit a steer/heifer, show a calf, learn cuts of beef/ dairy body parts, recognize a healthy animal, select feed ingredients and shop for beef and beef by-products.
The following subject matters are explored in depth:
- Selection of dairy vs beef
- feeding dairy vs beef
- cattle management
- fitting of dairy vs beef
- showing of dairy vs beef
- responsible cattle ownership
Meeting Dates/Times:
3rd Wednesday of the month
7pm
Requirements/Restrictions:
Members must be over the age of 9 to participate.
