Leader: Jen Payne
WHAT WE DO:
Did you know that a cavy is what we commonly know as a guinea pig? We will be learning all about the proper care, feeding, and handling of cavies through lots of fun, educational, and hands-on activities. You do not need to own a cavy to come, have fun, and learn! But if you have one, by all means, bring them!
This year, in addition to learning all about cavies, we will be learning about cavy showmanship for those who are interested in showing at the County Fair in May. In the 4-H cavy project you can learn about selecting and raising your animals and more.
•Learn the basic principles of animal science by owning, caring for, and keeping records
•Explore sound breeding, feeding, and management practices
•Learn about breeds and varieties of cavies and their characteristics
•Investigate marketing, project expansion, and how you can start a cavy business
Meeting Dates/Times:
4th Wednesday of the Month
6pm
Requirements/Restrictions:
Members under the age of 10 may need a parent/guardian to stay for the duration of the meeting to help facilitate the member's experience. Open to Primary members (ages 5-8) as well.
If you're interested in joining 4H or this project and you have not already signed up for it, then please contact the club, and we will be in touch to answer any questions you may have. The Club E-mail is [email protected]. We are looking forward to a fun and exciting year.
